We have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and the potential impacts on our members, families, employees, and greater community. Your health, safety and well-being are of the utmost importance and remains our main focus. We assure you that we will continue to monitor the situation and adjust our plans as needed.

LATEST NEWS

The following provides an overview on the newest COVID-19 information related to our programs and classes. In the sections that follow, you will find overall information and details by program.

  • There will no further classes effective immediately and as of of 7pm today, Tuesday, February 9 MAX Fitness will be closed as per Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s “circuit breaker” two-week closure. We are currently suspending memberships for two weeks to ensure no payments come out while closed. We will be posting workouts daily on social media that you can do from home to maintain your fitness goals.
  • Paradise AS Program is closed until Sunday, February 14, all families have been notified and we are working to find an alternate location should the Paradise Recreation Facilities not reopen on Monday, February 15
  • We have moved After School programs back to groups by school cohort rather than by age group and will have these proactive measures in place for tomorrow Wednesday, February 10 in all After School locations with the exception of New Cove Road, we will have New Cove switched over by the end of the week or before.
  • Our STEAM and Arts programs and classes are postponed this week with an announcement on Monday, February 15 as to next steps. Missed classes for the week will be made up by adding a week to the end of your current session.
  • Birthday parties booked in the next two weeks (February 13-14 and 20-21) will be cancelled and can be rebooked. We will provide an update each week on the birthdays for the coming week thus providing 2-weeks notice on any cancellations or changes required for your upcoming party.
  • We ask that you not attend or visit MAX if you or your family member have two or more of the following symptoms of COVID-19 and contact 811 for instructions should you or a family member have two or more symptoms. You will be screened before each attendance, and we track each individual attending our programs.

    AFTER SCHOOL, CHILD CARE & PRE SCHOOL

    All activities are planned following proper social distancing and safety protocols and procedures.

    Activity kits are provided to each child, these are not shareable, thus limiting potential cross-contamination.

    Children are grouped by age, we are moving to grouping by school for February 14, and this bubble is never combined or allowed to mingle with other groups.

    Frequent hand washing and sanitization throughout the day (when entering and exiting facility, between every activity, when changing rooms, during washroom breaks, etc.) is required.

    PPE masks are required on arrival and departure, in common areas or when social distancing is difficult.

    Social distancing is maintained between children and staff.

    Lower group ratios and building capacity compliance.

    Revised pick-up and drop procedures based on location and facility size and set up including drive-thru pick up and drop off, marked waiting areas, poles and pylons, sanitizer at entrance and exit, entry screening process, limited contact between staff and parents.

    Increased cleaning and sanitization of building, surfaces and belongings. We clean and disinfect high touch areas 2-3 times daily, including counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards and tablets, and the entire facility is cleaned at the end of each day to be fully sanitized and ready for the following day.

    Snacks are not being provided at this time, and children are encouraged to bring their own individually packaged healthy snack and beverage.

    BIRTHDAY PARTIES

    Enhanced cleaning, sanitization & disinfecting procedures. All areas and equipment are cleaned, sanitized & disinfected in between parties and at the end of each day.

    Reduced capacities.

    Party bookings staggered to eliminate multiple party cross over.

    One way traffic flow implemented.

    Pizza slices, juice & water are individually packaged per guest.

    Outside food and beverages are not recommended into facility unless it is pre-packaged or made by a licensed food company.

    Masks are required when entering/exiting and in common areas (i.e. hallways, bathrooms) and can be removed once in gymnasium and party room.

    Only one parent per guest is able to attend.

    The main double entrance doors are to be used to enter the building, with mask in place on entry we ask you to sanitize your hands and sign-in, a check in at the Welcome Desk with our staff is required to gain access to the fitness facility.

    We ask that you come ready to exercise and refrain as much as possible from using the change rooms and lockers. Members are to arrive no more than 10 minutes before class, to allow for controlled traffic through the building, please wait in the marked waiting areas outside of studios for a MAX employee to greet you and open class.

    The stairwell to the right of the main entrance is clearly marked as the separate exit and we ask you to do a final hand sanitization when leaving our building.
    Hand sanitization stations are set up throughout the building and in front of all studios, and we ask that you sanitize prior to entering and exiting class.

    Once your workout is complete, please ensure you exit the building promptly to avoid increased traffic in the open gym space and building overall. We can safety hang out, celebrate, and connect with our #maxfam via our social channels.

    Classes and open gym operate on a booking system, using the MAX app. Open gym slots are every hour on the hour and classes are per the schedule outlined in the app.

    Personal training space has been designated at the end of the turf space in the open gym and in studio 2. Please ensure no personal training is occurring in these spaces before using for an open workout.

    Classes have clearly marked workout stations for each member, with more than 6 feet of social distancing outlined by a box on the floor, instructor placement of spin bike, or yoga mat floor markers where you remain the entire class. Stations DO NOT rotate, and equipment IS NOT shared.
    Members are required to wipe down equipment before and after each use with provided individual disinfectant.

    Class sizes and number of members using the open gym have been modified to allow for adequate social distancing and approved capacities based on studio and room size, we have also added a new studio, purchased additional equipment, and have added new time slots and additional classes to our schedule to ensure we have adequate space and availability to meet the needs of all of our members.

    Safety signage and reminders are throughout the facility with floor markings identifying directional flow, designated workout spaces (minimum of 6 feet apart), and labelled waiting areas.

    Enhanced cleaning, sanitization & disinfecting procedures. All areas and equipment are cleaned, sanitized & disinfected twice daily (mid-day and end-of-day) with 15-minute cleaning breaks in between each group class.

    High touch areas are cleaned frequently, including door handles, desks, washrooms, light switches, etc.

    All MAX employees wear face masks, disposable gloves and frequent handwashing and sanitization is required. The only exception is for group fitness coaches performing heavy exercise, and in this case all social distancing protocols are always in place.

    Protective barriers have been installed in our welcome area and social distancing protocols are in place anywhere a physical barrier does not exist.

    Only ten lockers are available in each locker room, and members are encouraged to come to class dressed and ready for their workout, to minimize locker room use where and when possible.

    Showers are open and must be booked in advance. Members are provided with individual disinfectant for pre- and post-shower use and showers are cleaned and sanitized after each use.

    Our locally supplied coffee and tea service is currently suspended.

    Towel service is suspended, and members are required to bring any times they need for personal use only.

    There will be no shared amenities in locker rooms (i.e. hair brushes, blow dryers, etc.)
