Kickboxing
Kickboxing refers to a group of martial arts and stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching. It can be considered a hybrid martial art formed from the combination of elements of Karate, Muay Thai, and western Boxing. Kickboxing is often practiced for self-defence, general fitness, or as a contact sport.
Modern Kickboxing originated in Japan in the 1960s, and spread to America and the Netherlands in the 1970s. Since then its popularity has grown immensely with each region developing and promoting their own style.
MAX Kickboxing is affiliated with the Council of Amateur Sport Kickboxing (CASK) which is the national leader in promoting excellence in the sport of amateur kickboxing through events, courses, services, and certification of athletes, coaches, and officials. CASK offers three divisions for Kickboxing: Full Contact, Low Kick, and K-1. Each division has its own set of rules and our students have the opportunity to develop the skills which are used in each of these disciplines.
