Marie’s teaching career began at 13 years of age as a teaching assistant at a dance studio in Portsmouth, England. After graduating High School, Marie won a talent-based scholarship for fulltime training at The London College of Dance, which is the teacher training college of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). During her time at London College, Marie represented LCD teaching in France and England. Upon graduating with distinction, Marie began teaching in New York and then made her way to Newfoundland.
During Marie’s nineteen years in St. John’s, she has earned a reputation as an excellent teacher, choreographer and entrepreneur. She has worked with an extensive number of professional organizations and theatrical companies. Marie regularly attends dance teacher conferences and keeps herself up-to-date with the latest teaching philosophies and styles. Marie also encourages her students to think outside of the box and has arranged a large number of guest workshops and out-of-province training opportunities for them.
Marie was Owner and Director of The School of Dance for 11 years prior to joining the MAX team. The School of Dance was home to hundreds of students, many of whom continued on to successful arts careers and even more who developed a great lifelong love of dance.
