We are looking for an experienced program leader to help us grow our business.

MAX helps people be healthy and active at every age. We do with this with a range of arts and athletics programs, delivered in facilities in St. John’s, Mount Pearl and the surrounding area. Our success is based on having the right mix of programs and delivering them in first-class facilities that set us apart in the market.

The Program Leader is a management position at MAX, and will play a key role in the success of the company. This role is primarily responsible for our multi-site Dance program, with the potential to manage the entire Arts portfolio (incl. music and theatre) if the interest and experience aligns to the role. 

This is an ideal position for those with experience in program delivery, as well as those with business or management expertise that would like to apply those skills within a new field.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Program Performance: Drive program success through a balanced focus on retaining our large base of clientele as well as appealing to new individuals and families. This role will include overall responsibility for the program’s budget and employees.
  • Coaching & Instruction: The successful candidate may wish to deliver and instruct some program activities, but it is not a requirement of the role. At a minimum, the Program Leader will be required to mentor, coach and support the team of instructors to ensure activities are delivered to the high-quality MAX standard.
  • Service Excellence: Work collaboratively with program staff and the MAX corporate team to implement programs in a way that set us apart in the market. This will include providing oversight and support to staff to ensure all activities are being consistently delivered, with high-levels of quality and relentless attention to customer satisfaction.
  • Operations: Build a positive and collaborative team of teachers and support staff through regular meetings and communications, and setting a tone for positive relations and community. Given the size of this program, this role also requires the Program Leader to maintain first-class studios and spaces for families.

The preferred skills and abilities sought for this position include:

  • Supportive team player, able to position staff for success and deliver the advice, feedback and general support required to create a high-performing team.
  • Strong communicator, comfortable in dealing with staff, clients and management, in a range of formats from verbal to digital.
  • Performance focused, able to set goals and quality standards, and implement the actions and tracking mechanisms to ensure delivery of those goals.
  • Background, experience or knowledge in Arts programming, from a range of possible backgrounds including academic study, participation, instruction or supervision.
  • Problem solver, with an ability to thrive in a fast paced, high standard and data-driven environment.
  • Comfortable in a range of technologies, particularly MS Office and Facebook.

Compensation: This is a full time, permanent position at MAX with a base salary, bonus and benefits package. The total compensation will be negotiated based on the final responsibilities, and is anticipated to be in the range of $50,000.
